Save the Civilization
Terms of Use & Privacy Notice
Last updated: [DATE]
1. What This Project Is
Save the Civilization is a one-time public archive.
Up to 100,000 people may each record one statement describing what they believe is essential for civilization to continue.
When a statement is recorded:
- it becomes public
- it becomes permanent
- it cannot be edited or removed
- the project continues until capacity is reached
When all places are filled, the project closes forever.
This is not a social platform, campaign, or community. It is an archive.
2. Participation and Payment
Participation requires a fixed payment.
This payment:
- is not a donation
- does not support a cause
- does not grant ownership or control
- exists solely as meaningful friction
Payment is handled by Stripe. We do not store credit card details or billing information.
Each successful payment grants the right to record exactly one statement.
Submission is not guaranteed until recorded.
A submission is only guaranteed once it has been successfully recorded.
3. Irreversibility
Before submitting a statement, you are explicitly informed that:
- your text is recorded exactly as entered
- it cannot be changed
- it cannot be deleted
- it will remain publicly accessible
By submitting a statement, you agree to this irrevocability.
Requests for edits, corrections, or removal will not be granted, except where legally required.
4. Responsibility for Content
You are fully responsible for the content of your statement.
You agree that your statement:
- does not violate applicable laws
- does not contain personal data about yourself or others
- does not include content you do not have the right to publish
Statements reflect the views of their authors, not of this project.
5. Public Nature of the Archive
All recorded statements are:
- publicly visible
- accessible without login
- readable by anyone
Statements may be read, quoted, or referenced by third parties.
We cannot control how third parties use publicly visible information.
6. Data We Collect
We deliberately collect as little data as possible.
What we store:
- the text of your statement
- the time it was recorded
- a technical identifier for the entry
- a Stripe session reference confirming payment
What we do NOT store:
- your name
- your email address
- user accounts or profiles
- payment card details
- tracking or marketing data
We do not perform profiling, personalization, or analytics tied to individuals.
Cryptographic Integrity Proofs
The platform publishes daily cryptographic integrity proofs of the archive on a public blockchain.
These proofs contain only non-reversible cryptographic hashes. No statement text, personal data, IP addresses, or user identifiers are ever stored on the blockchain.
The archive publishes daily cryptographic integrity proofs. These proofs contain only non-reversible cryptographic hashes and never include statement text or personal data.
These cryptographic proofs allow independent verification that the archive has not been altered after publication.
They do not reveal the content of statements and cannot be reversed to reconstruct original data.
These proofs confirm integrity, not the accuracy or truthfulness of the recorded content.
For integrity verification purposes, cryptographic hashes derived from recorded entries are generated and included in public integrity proofs.
These hashes cannot be used to reconstruct the original statements.
7. Payments and Third Parties
Payments are processed by Stripe.
Stripe acts as an independent payment provider under its own privacy policy.
This project receives only:
- confirmation that a payment succeeded
- a technical reference to link one payment to one entry
8. Search and Access
The archive may allow keyword search at later stages of the project.
Search, when available:
- is exact-match only
- does not rank statements by popularity
- does not highlight “important” entries
- does not alter the original order
Search exists to explore the archive, not to interpret it.
9. Moderation and Legal Requests
This project does not curate opinions or viewpoints.
However, we may remove or restrict access to content only if required by law, such as:
- unlawful content
- court orders
- legally valid takedown requests
Such actions are exceptional and logged.
10. Security and Abuse Prevention
We apply technical measures to:
- prevent automated abuse
- prevent duplicate submissions
- protect system integrity
If necessary, recording may be temporarily paused to maintain system stability.
11. No Guarantees
The project is provided “as-is”.
We do not guarantee:
- availability at all times
- permanent uptime
- compatibility with all devices
Statements are stored with care, but the internet is not risk-free.
12. Changes to These Terms
These Terms & Privacy Notice may be updated only to reflect legal or technical necessity.
The core principles of permanence, equality, and non-manipulation will not change.
13. Contact
For legal or technical matters only:
[contact@savethecivilization.com]
This contact is not provided for content changes or participation requests.
14. Final Note
If participation were free, it would mean less.
If statements were editable, they would mean less.
If popularity mattered, truth would mean less.
This project exists to record intent — not to optimize it.
